Urban Art Project
The idea for this project was born at a meeting of the Lead Comprehensive Planning Committee in December of 2014. Its mission is to help beautify Lead, promote civic pride, support local artists, and attract tourism. The Lead Deadwood Arts Center was tasked with project management and became a repository for funding. There have been many contributors to the project, including numerous private citizens. Some of the artists have contributed their time and talent, while most have been paid a stipend. Funders to date include:
